30 for 30 Remix: Nine, nine, 99!

Dress: Ann Taylor
Shawl: I have no clue
"Belt": Strap from my mom's purse
Bracelets: Gift from co-disher Adei!

I rocked this outfit to church Sunday for my sorority's 88th anniversary.  Love it!  I stole the wrap covered with a belt idea from Sydney!  I wore a take on this before the remix to my film screening.
The tights are giving me love!  And a good hat????  What??  Love.  And those are good cheap sale tights.  Mmhmm.

30 for 30 Remix: 7 & 8

What?  That title's not clever enough for you?  Ah well.  Bet you'll still look at the pictures!  I wore two outfits on Saturday.  THE KID'S ON A ROLL!!!  The first for errands, the second to go to dinner.  The first, I dig and LOVE the location!  The second... wow... SO not my style.  And I kind of hate it.  I had this AWESOME outfit... then I remembered I couldn't wear the sweater because it's not in my 30.  Kick me in the face, please.  I might have to stop trying to make this dress happen.  One more chance after this... (never kick a good dress when it's down)

Oh dear second outfit.  Here you come ruining this post...

Ya win some, ya lose some... and then you end the remix. LOL

I wore this to a house party and the people marveled that I wore both a velvet shirt AND velvet jeans AND suede shoes.  BOOYAH!!  I love this freaking outfit.  And I would NEVER... EVER have picked it out without this challenge!  Yeeeeeeahhhhh!!!

I like the first outfit a lot more in pictures than I did in person but my friend loved it!  I may or may not have had a personal dance party to DooDooBrown during the second photo shoot...

30 for 30 Remix: The Pieces

Here are my 30 pieces! I'm scared, y'all! I'm that one shiverin and shakin on the pavement! I have less color than I would like but that's completely representative of my winter wardrobe. I included some pieces I am now thinking I might not wear just because I wanted to be able to have a little more color. This shall be interesting. Kendi, le premiere remixer, only has FOUR pairs of shoes... Yeah... about that. That's not gonna work for the kid.

I'll need your encouragement so keep it coming!! For the record, my support system known as my boyfriend? Hot mess horrible. This man looked at my pared down closet and LAUGHED at me. I said it'll be easier for me to get dressed in the morning and he laughed EVEN HARDER!! Jerk. Accessories will make this what it will be. Oh and yes, I bought 3 new pieces (in advance of the shopping freeze) to be able to do this without harming babies and dogs. You're welcome moms and pet owners. To the pieces!
Two dresses: (L to R) New American Eagle, Ann Taylor

Three casual pants: 1 velvet jeans, 2 pairs of jeans
Two dress pants: Black & navy
Five sweaters: Sleeveless sweater, sweater tank (I'm killing K. Rock so softly right now), 3 cardigans (the far right is new)
Five shirts: The green and black are actually sweaters, the other two folded are long-sleeved tees, then the lone button-down is a never worn piece from Martin + Osa before they went out of business
Four blazers: (L to R) Flannel, two velvet, my favorite black
Three skirts: Wool, fancy (Huh? LOL), tulle
Six pairs of shoes: I couldn't do this without my magenta birthday shoes!! The grey boots are thrifted in great condition $20!!  All shoes pictured are of course... Nine West. LOLOL. STAN.

Honey Balsamic Lamb Chops

Recipe courtesy of Giada de Laurentiis
  • 1/3 cup balsamic vinegar
  • 1 garlic clove
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 3/4 cup vegetable or canola oil
  • Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
  • 8 small lamb chops
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/2 tablespoon chopped fresh rosemary leaves
Place a grill pan over medium-high heat or preheat a gas or charcoal grill.
In the bowl of a food processor, combine the balsamic vinegar, garlic, and honey. Pulse until blended. With the machine running, slowly pour in the vegetable oil until the mixture is smooth and forms a thick sauce. Season with salt and pepper, to taste.
Season the lamb chops with salt and pepper. Drizzle with the olive oil and sprinkle with rosemary. Grill the lamb chops for 2 to 3 minutes each side until medium-rare.
Arrange the lamb chops on a platter. Spoon the sauce over the top or serve the sauce on the side.

Results: Beautiful!  I liked the sauce better than I thought I would.  My palate is very sensitive to vinegars.  I liked it okay but the chops were disappointing probably due to poor butchering.  Not awesome.  I served this with polenta and spinach sauteed with onion and garlic.
