Week 26 Bonus Recipe: Banana Chai Smoothie

1 1/2 cups water
2 bags of chai-spiced tea*
2 green cardamom pods
1 banana
2 pints french vanilla ice cream
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1 generous pinch of nutmeg
1 tbsp. cinnamon

Bring water almost to a boil, add cardamom pods, steep tea bags for 5 minutes.  Cool tea.  Remove cardamom.  Add tea and remaining ingredients to a blender and combine.  Pour into a glass, sprinkle cinnamon on top.

Results: Next time I'll use milk instead of water to make the tea so the smoothie stays creamier.  I made this one up as I went along.  The vanilla extract and cinnamon are key to this smoothie's flavor.  It's a bit flat without.  Yum!

*Chai means tea but what Americans think of as chai is a sweet spiced tea (usually with sugar, cardamom, cinnamon & pepper).

This sounds yummy I think using milk would make it creamier too. So if chai means tea and the box says chai tea it's just saying tea tea?
